KEMPER gunmetal – the material
When you recommend KEMPER gunmetal to your customers, you can make references to antiquity. The durability of gunmetal is best evidenced by items from times long past.

Old bronze ship's bells, artistic wine vessels and other finds from the Bronze Age (from around 6,000 B.C.) are impressive evidence of the extraordinary longevity of this material. And this also holds true for artefacts from this creative epoch that have lain for millennia in salty seawater. KEMPER-cast gunmetal is a material very closely related to bronze (copper and tin) and is extremely suitable for use in domestic water systems, in particular for drinking water and heating installations.

KEMPER gunmetal
the ideal valve and plumbing material
gunmetal is a valve and plumbing material standardised to EN 1982 / modified in conformity with DIN 50930 (6). Because of its versatility, it is especially suited for sanitation systems, e.g. as a material for stop, safety and control valves, for fittings on pipe system components, or as a structural material in water, filter and reprocessing systems. A further advantage: gunmetal is made from recycled material and is thus ecofriendly and conserves resources.
KEMPER gunmetal
free from stress corrosion cracking and dezincification
gunmetal is an all-purpose material and can be combined with all known plumbing installation materials, e.g. for pipe system connections involving copper, stainless steel, galvanised steel, and plastics. gunmetal is very easy to machine and finds use in the most varied of press-fit connection systems.
KEMPER gunmetal is corrosion-resistant and safe from stress corrosion cracking and dezincification, the most frequent and hazardous types of corrosion.
Stress corrosion cracking can arise when brass components are installed under tensile stress. In this regard it is irrelevant whether the occurring tensile stresses are caused by the component manufacturing process, e.g. pressing, or through faulty installation, e.g. threads with excessive hemp. gunmetal components, by comparison, are free from stress corrosion cracking.
